Welcome to the webpages of HARIG, the Harwich Amateur Radio Interest Group. HARIG is the radio club for people in and around the Harwich area in NE Essex on the east coast of the United Kingdom.


HARIG was formed in March 1990, and is affiliated to the RSGB. The constitution of the club is available.

QSL Policy: Please note that HARIG is a small club with limited resources and therefore cannot mass QSL via the Bureau. Direct QSLs via the Address on QRZ.com accompanied by the correct return postage and envelope will be honoured and logs will be uploaded to eQSL. No other QSLs will be undertaken.

General Information:

HARIG meets at the Park Pavilion, Barrack Lane, Harwich, Essex, CO12 3NS. UK on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Meetings start formally at 8pm and visitors are always welcome.

The 2024 Programme of Meetings at the Park Pavilion include:

  • 14th February - - Show and Tell evening
  • 13th March - Talk by Kevin M0JVC - "Mixing and editing music"
  • 10th April - Talk by Jonathan G0DVJ - "The Elecraft K4"
  • 8th May - Inter-club Quiz with Colchester Radio Amateurs
  • 12th June - Talk by Kevan 2E0WMG - "Dxpedition with GM5AUG to the Outer Hebrides"
  • 10th July - Talk by Louis 2E0GYY - Subject TBC
  • 14th August - Sausage Sizzle and Social

And the joint online Skype meetings with Colchester Radio Amateurs (CRA) will continue quarterly on the first Thursday of each month on the following dates at 7.30pm local time:

  • 4th April 2024 - Sporadic-E by Jim Bacon G3YLA
  • 4th July 2024 - WRTC 2026 in East Anglia by Mark M0DXR
  • 3rd October 2024 - TBC
To participate in these virtual meetings, please download and make a Skype ID if you don't already have one. Then search within Skype for "G0DVJ M4J" and send an add request (wave). Jonathan will then add you to his contact list as well as the CRA Virtual Meeting group. You will receive a Skype scheduled call invitation in advance of the meeting. You do not need a camera or microphone but can use them if you have.
